Tristan Perich: Interval Studies
Tristan Perich, who created those self-playing 1-bit albums, also has art/sound installations which produce scale intervals with rows and rows of tiny speakers each playing sustained 1-bit sounds. A few steps back, the listener experiences a tangled mass of noise. But up close, you can run your ear over the speakers and differentiate the different tones.
Check out the video, it's definitely worth it.

Click on this link if you want to read an interview I did with Phil Elvrum of Mount Eerie (formerly the Microphones). Thanks to Caitlin and Joe of Each Note Secure for making it happen! Also, thanks to Phil. If anyone wants to see him play with Mount Eerie, you should come with me to the Art Damage Lodge in Northside tomorrow.
See ya there!
