Wither Kindle?
section9:
marc:
Obituaries are already being written for the Amazon Kindle with today’s Apple announcement of iPad and iBooks. (At least Steve Jobs gave Amazon and the Kindle some props today.) Despite the iPad’s large color touch screen, I think the reports of the Kindle’s death are premature. The Kindle will still offer major cost savings and some significant advantages for serious readers...
Seriously, what just happened?
I’ll tell you what just happened, the Cats just got outplayed. Getting a call from the President doesn’t mean you can win a game by making only three 3 pointers and completely wasting your last few possessions.
Well, #1 was good while it lasted.
We’ll get back there again.
But…damn…
We speculate about the new album from The National http://bit.ly/cvhkza

Check it out, ya’ll
Shameless plug time!
After years of trying to be too cool for school, I’ve finally started a Twitter account. Check it out at https://twitter.com/terriblesounds. That’s my username: terriblesounds. Be my internet media friend! I’m going to be posting extremely funny observations on my very unique life (not) as well as updates on music in Cincinnati and recent activity of Each Note Secure (actually,...

See how indie artists are raising money for Haiti
My bud/bandmate/cousin-in-law just sent me a slew of backing beats and drum tracks he’s been working on. They sound pretty fuckin’ sick. After weeks of feeling musically uninspired and frustrated, I think I might finally have a reason to hole up with my laptop, my noisemakers, my guitars, and Sony Acid Pro 7. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post a few results soon.
Everybody send positive vibes to Ashley today
24 hours later and her teeth are “still hurting.”*
* Just imagine that this was said with a British accent like the kid from the “Charlie Bit Me” video. There’s really no way to spell it phonetically and have it make sense.

I’m actually in a super positive mood today. A lot of that has to be due to listening to these two albums this morning. “Featuring Birds” by Quasi is an amazing record by a band I can’t believe I didn’t start listening to earlier, and “Campfire Songs” by Animal Collective is just amazing. While I was walking to work today, not even needing a hat or...
#47: Ann Coulter
movingonwitharedwall:
american-apologies:
Sometimes a person comes along who is so narrow-minded, misinformed, and ignorant, that you wonder whether it’s all a joke. In political commentator Ann Coulter’s case, you really wish it was one. This cold and soulless conservative nutcase continues to parade her hyperbolic rhetoric wherever she goes. Let’s take a look at the words that define her:

I know I’m late on this, but last night’s game against Florida was AWESOME. Calipari is the fucking man. We’re on our way to defending our all-time winning record for at least another generation or so.
Big News
I haven’t really had a chance to post about this yet, but I found out on Friday that I’m now officially a contributing writer for Each Note Secure, the music blog for which I did that Phil Elvrum interview a while back. It’s a cool site covering Cincinnati and a national music, with some serious ties the Cincinnati Enquirer (ENS serves as part of the Enquirer’s online local music coverage).

OH SWEET
It just starded xhardcore snowingx. I really hope this continues through the course of the Bengals game. And that the temperature drops. And that I FREEZE TO DEATH.

Gear Talk #1 : A Review of the Korg Kaossilator
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about music gear I have and music gear I’m buying. I take a long time to decide to buy a piece of equipment, often using reading pages and pages of reviews and commentary before making a decision. After all, these are hundreds of dollars in audio equipment we’re talking about.
What I always really wish for, though, is some unvarnished commentary on the goods...
Yet more reflections on 00-09
My favorite albums of the last decade, pretty much.

7. Mirah: C’mon Miracle

OH BY THE WAY
I’m going to the Bengals - Jets game tomorrow.
The weather forecast shows a high of 21.
LETS GET READY TO FREEZE.
*It’s okay though because Ashley is giving me a ride, so I can drink enough at home that I won’t notice the cold.

I HAVE NEEDLES IN ME RIGHT NOW!

I have one in each side so I can massage them when I feel anxious and start tensing up.
Acupuncture was really interesting. I feel a little light headed and tired, which is normal, and I’m not supposed to do anything stressful or involving a lot of thought or activity for the next couple of hours to give it time to work appropriately.
So tumbling will be fine!

Even More Reflections on 2000-2009
I understand that’s it’s pretty ironic to post this right after my previous indie-hating post, but here goes anyway:
I realized recently that the first concerts I ever saw were after I turned 14, so my entire concert experience so far in my life has existed in the last decade. It’s kind of weird do think about. So here are the bands I saw during 00-09:
(Also, sorry countless...
